Judgments
A judgment is the end result in a lawsuit. The judgment may be that liability exists. If the judgment is abstracted, the act of abstracting the judgment secures the judgment to property of the debtor that is not exempt. Federal law may allow you to stop the lawsuit prior to the issuance of a judgment. Federal law under the Bankruptcy Code may allow you to deal with the debt in a manner other than the seizure of property.
