I OWE SALES TAXES
The Texas State Comptroller is responsible for the enforcement and collection of the laws involving sales taxes. A sales tax debt is very difficult to easily resolve for the business owner. The Comptroller is very strict and partial payment plans are frequently refused.
The Comptroller has the ability to freeze the bank account of a business or individual and to seize and sell property. The Comptroller can close a business and seize the assets of the business.
A business collects sales taxes for the benefit of the State of Texas and the local taxing entities. The business is required to pay to the Comptroller the taxes that SHOULD have been collected. The business is a trustee for the State of Texas and the local taxing authorities. This is one of the highest duties known to law.
Sales tax audits are serious matters that can result in tax liabilities, interest, and penalties. Appeals of sales tax audits have very short deadlines and need to be handled immediately. Failure to list defenses to sales tax liabilities and penalties may result in losing the right to use the defenses.
We represent businesses and individuals that have problems with the taxes collected by the Texas State Comptroller.
